I logged in at Twitter a while ago and was surprised to see that Ayala Alabang, a certain Barangay in Muntinlupa City is trending on Twitter. When I checked on it, I knew that the tweets are about the new ordinance passed entitled “Protection of the Unborn Child Ordinance of 2011″.
The ordinance requires a prescription to purchase condoms in Barangay Ayala Alabang which states:
Section 37. Provisions relative to dispensing of anti-conceptional substances and devices. No drug or chemical product or device capable of provoking abortion or preventing conception as classified by the Food and Drug Administration shall be delivered or sold to any person without a proper prescription by a duly licensed physician.
This ordinance has received several reactions from the users especially in the microblogging Twitter.
Methinks that this ordinance is way pointless. It’s as if Brgy. Ayala Alabang is an isolated place. People can buy over-the-counter condoms everywhere.
