Have you ever wondered what you could see around the Philippines? They are a conglomeration of a stunning number of islands – 7,107 total! Considering the headspinning number, it would be extremely easy to become confused on what places you can visit and experience. For the most part, it would be highly difficult to cover all of the islands and what they have to offer due to their variety, however we will only cover a few interesting, but worthwhile destinations you can visit during your time there. We begin with the following:
The City of Baguio
Also known under the name of “Summer Capital of the Philippines”, this city has a lot to offer. It is located at around 1,500 meters above sea level, known for its lovely climate, tropical heat and humid weather. The people here however go here to escape the bustle of the west, returning to a simpler existence and the enjoyment of life itself. If you love and enjoy the natural world, the fresh smell of pine trees and more, then you will certainly enjoy Baguio. It is located in a mountainous region, but hardly lacking in social activities and a rich night life. You can find a wide range of clubs and bars to pick from. Harrison Road or Session Road are places where you’ll find plenty to keep you busy during the evenings. There are quite a few parks also scattered around the city, giving you an opportunity to stretch your legs or enjoy a romantic walk – Wright Park, Burnham Park and Mines View Park are all excellent locations for such activities.
- Hundred Islands National Park
One of the best places around the Philippines, carrying its own legends and myth. People say each of the islands came from the soldiers who fought for their country’s future. Though most of the islands here have much to see, only a mere three of them were developed so far. Governor Island, Children’s Island and Quezon Island all offer some interesting opportunities to explore, either via bus or on foot. You can get to the islands via ferry from Anda Alaminos for a nice and relatively short ride. Children’s Island carries its name because of its shallow, clear waters allowing kids to enjoy it without fear of being dragged in the deep by any currents.
A progressive city, known for its multitude of enjoyable places, such as resorts, high-class hotels and large shopping malls. It is a place capable of catering to different budgets, tastes and finances. It also possesses one of the most busy airports around the country, being a pathway toward other cities such as Dumaguete, Bohol and more. One of the most highly visited places around the city is Mango Avenue, where you’ll hear a lot of good music among other things. You will have a chance to visit more than a single island of course, thanks to the transport network of boats. A good time to visit the city is during the Sinulog Festival, which is a time when people celebrate in the honor of the Senior Sto. Nino. Being the patron saint of Cebu City, this makes him a reason for people to gather, dance and enjoy their good times in his name.
