The American Idol Season 12 premieres in the Philippines on January 17, 2013 at 6:00 PM.
After a delve in ratings during the eleventh season, Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly announced that the show would undergo “some creative tweaking” for this season. Joining Randy Jackson in the judges’ table are Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban, replacing Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez who left after season eleven.

Aside from the new judges, the show announces major revamp in their audition process. First is the ”American Idol Small Town Audition Bus Tour”, a 10-town nationwide tour that will give hopefuls who couldn’t make it to one of the large audition cities a chance to try out.
American Idol has also started the “Nominate an Idol” method, where family and friends can nominate a potential Idol by filling out an online form and existing video or URL of their nominee—they must be singing solo and a capella. The chosen auditions will then be surprised on location by a film crew and given an opportunity to advance to the next round.
Finally, online auditions for this season has also opened opportunities to Idol hopefuls who did not make it to the onsite auditions.
The cat fights between the two judges – Carey and Minaj – will also be something to watch out for this season.
Watch American Idol Season 12 on Star World (Sky Cable Channel 48) and ETC on January 17, 2013, Thursday at 6:00 PM.
