The UAAP womens volleyball finals results – DLSU defeats ADMU in Game 2

The De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers completed their second three-peat (sixth straight championship, 2nd grand slam, etc) in the UAAP Season 75 women’s volleyball championship  on Wednesday after sweeping Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles in Game 2 of their best-of-three series, 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-16), at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Lady Spikers took Game 1 last Saturday, needing five sets to beat Ateneo in a close game at the Araneta Coliseum.   La Salle’s championship title is its seventh in UAAP women’s volleyball tournament in the last 10 years, and sixth straight win.  The green squad had a clean 16-win streak since the start of the competition.  They were defeated by University of Sto. Tomas in their first game in Round 1 of elimination phase.  DLSU’s Michele Gumabao is named the UAAP 75 Women’s Volleyball Finals MVP.

DLSU’s Ara Galang and two-time MVP Abigail Maraño were named as the co-MVPs after leading their team to a league-best 13-1 record in the elimination round. Maraño was also named as the best blocker, while Lady Eagles’ Alyssa Valdez was named as the best scorer of the season.  Valdez’ teammate, Jem Ferrer, took home the best setter trophy.

National University’s Myla Pablo and Aiko Urdas were named as the best attacker and Rookie of the Year, respectively. Jennylyn Reyes also of the Lady Bulldogs was named as the best receiver and best digger, while Adamson’s Sheila Marie Pineda was recognized as the league’s best server.

Replay of UAAP 75 Women’s Volleyball Finals Game 2 will air on March 7, Thursday at 6 p.m. on BALLS SkyCable Ch 34/ Destiny Cable Ch 36 while schedule of replay on Studio 23 will be announced as soon as available.
