The De La Salle University (DLSU) women’s volleyball utility spiker, Michelle Gumabao, was hailed as the Finals MVP of the UAAP Season 75 Women’s Volleyball championship round.
The DLSU Lady Spikers have received their seventh title of the said tournament in ten years, and completed their second 3-peat when they routed last year’s first runner-up Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles in Game 2 of the UAAP Season 75 Women’s Volleyball finals.
The Lady Spikers stuns the Loyola-based squad with a three-setter game and a two-game sweep during the UAAP women’s volleyball finals held at the bleacher-filled SM Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, March 6.
UAAP Season 75 Women’s Volleyball Individual Awards
Gumabao’s team mates Ara Galang and two-time MVP Abigail Maraño were named as the co-MVPs after leading their team to a league-best 13-1 record in the elimination round. Maraño was also named as the best blocker, while Lady Eagles’ Alyssa Valdez was named as the best scorer of the season. Valdez’ teammate, Jem Ferrer, took home the best setter trophy.
National University’s Myla Pablo and Aiko Urdas were named as the best attacker and Rookie of the Year, respectively. Jennylyn Reyes also of the Lady Bulldogs was named as the best receiver and best digger, while Adamson’s Sheila Marie Pineda was recognized as the league’s best server.
