2013 FIBA Asia Cup Smart Gilas lineup to be named Thursday

Gilas Pilipinas’ head coach Chot Reyes is expected to announce the 2013 FIBA Asia Cup lineup Thursday.  Reyes said in past interviews that he wants a true team, and not just an all-star cast to make up the squad that will represent the country in the upcoming FIBA Asia Championship.

Naturalized player Marcus Douthit is said to remain in the team.  The names of Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood and Jeff Chan, Talk ‘N Text’s Ranidel de Ocampo, Jared Dillinger, Jason Castro, Kelly Williams, Jimmy Alapag, and Larry Fonacier, Globalport’s Gary David and Japeth Aguilar, Alaska’s Sonny Thoss, Ginebra’s LA Tenorio, San Mig’s Marc Pingris, Petron’s June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos, and  Greg Slaughter pop out as the squad members to make up a solid national team.

Once the lineup is finalized, Reyes is expected to call the team’s first practice on Monday, which as approved by the PBA, will be scheduled once a week for the time being at the Philsports Arena.
