Philippine Volcanoes “Men in Briefs” Bench Billboard to be removed

If the Philippine Azkals are creating a buzz in social networking for crashing their Sri Lankan opponents, the Volcanoes, the Philippine National Rugby team, are creating online hype due to their recent sexy billboard posted along EDSA.

The Bench billboards featured the 7 members of the national rugby team, Philippine Volcanoes, posing in their underwear. The “men in briefs” billboards were said to be eye-catching, traffic-stopping, and provocative. In a Philippine Entertainment Portal (PEP) article, the team members posed for the sexy pictorials to create awareness of their existence. The billboards immediately caught attention to passers-by as it was intended to be. However, these billboards also became subjects to scrutiny of some government officials.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos asked advertisers to take the said billboard along EDSA-Guadalupe.   He reasoned that the road is in the center of Metro Manila. The advertisers have already committed to removing the said billboards.

Aside from these Philippine Volcanoes billboards, Mayor Abalos will also be checking on the underwear billboard of Aly Borromeo, the team captain Philippine Azkals, also located along EDSA.
