How to Earn Money Through Buying and Selling Websites?
Oct 28, 2008 Making Money Online, Tips 4 Comments
I have read a number of articles that recommends buying and selling websites as a good way to earn online. We’ve been curious as to how these website buyers and sellers make money online through this method.
Buying and selling websites have become quite a money making endeavor of the past years people have been making it a full time job. But, when you are in the market to start your own web company, make sure that you have as much information on your website, market and comps as you can.
Having enough information on the basics of buying and selling websites can give you an advantage in conducting the business. This is because it will make you more knowledgeable in the things that you are talking about. These pieces of information can also lead you to come up with good decisions that will help you earn more money by attracting more and more potential buyers.
One of the best selling points of any seller in terms of offering websites is his or her credibility. If the buying public knows that you have enough credibility, he or she wouldn’t hesitate to buy from you and can even make recommendations to his or her friends.
When it comes to buying and selling the website, here are some important things that you should keep in mind:
1. Don’t be impatient. In selling websites, the sales process has to take some time if you want to get the best price. In most cases, a period of several weeks or even months is common this is because the potential buyer is spending time doing background checks not only of the specific site but other websites that he or she has been taking into consideration. So, if you want to get the best deal, it is best to wait. As they say, great things come to those who wait. Who knows? You can find a buyer who is willing to buy your website for more that you have been expecting for.
2. Keep maintaining your website as though it is not on sale. Updating and taking care of your website as if you were not selling it is one of the selling points that many people are attracted with. Seeing a well maintained website will give them an idea that you are a credible seller and that they can trust you when it comes to issues involving financial aspects. If the website is well managed and well taken care of prior to selling, it can generate good impression and will open the doors for other possible deals and arrangements.
3. Be prepared to share a lot of private and confidential information. If you are not comfortable with this then you have a problem. The less information you give the lower the offer will be from potential buyers. The more information you give the more you expose yourself to unethical buyers.
4. Unless you are selling a modest priced website, you must protect yourself with Non Disclosure Agreements (NDA’s). This is very important because it will give you an image that you are a responsible seller who can give out information. It may also reflect you as a credible seller because it shows that you are open to financial transparency.
5. You must work with other website developers that can open the doors to pre-qualify buyers. This is very important because by working in close coordination with other developers, you will not open the doors to pre-qualify buyers but can also help you get some tips in selling the website effectively. You can also get the current trends in buying and selling websites.

Tips on Saving Money during the Holidays
Oct 27, 2008 Hacks and Tips, Money 2 Comments
The Christmas holidays are coming and it’s considered as the longest of Christian festivities. By longest, it means chains of merrymaking, and series of spending. So how can you exactly save money during the holidays, not ending up broke for the next whole year round?
With the hype that holidays usually bring, people always have the tendency to buy more and spend more without taking into account the consequences that their actions can bring.
Hence, it does not necessarily mean that because it is the holidays you have all the reason in this world to buy whatever you want and spend how much you want. Some people contend that it’s just once a year, so better give what you have.

The problem is that giving something just for the spirit of the holidays does not mean you have to spend gold. You can still give something that will be deeply appreciated without having to spend more money.
Here’s how:
1. Make a budget and stick to it
The problem with most people is that they find making a budget relatively easy but sticking to it is doubly hard. So what’s the point of making a budget when you do not know how to conform to what you have stated in there?
Making and using your budget should always go hand in hand. Therefore, when you make your budget this holiday season, it is best that you follow the things that are written in it so that you would be able to save more money.
2. Live within your means
Of course, everybody would want to give gifts because that is what the holiday season calls for. However, it does not necessarily mean that you have to spend more than what you can afford.
The trick to saving more money is to always live within your means. Spending more than what you can afford will definitely bring more problems than you can afford to solve.
3. Personalize it!
As they say, it is the thought that counts. Hence, there are no better ways to show how much you have thought of those people this holiday season than making personalized gifts.
4. Shop and compare
It really pays to shop around and doubly better when you compare prices. You will never know which items are better priced than the others are when you do not compare their values.
The point here is that you should not be confined to one shopping portal. Try to look for other items, usually in thrift stores and consignment shops, where you can find the best items at a lower price.
Indeed, shopping for the holidays can be fun, but you don’t have to be spendthrift. Nowadays, you really just have to be practical.

Cebu Pacific Air Ticket Fare Promos
Oct 22, 2008 Travel 27 Comments
I went home to Mindanao last October 10-13, 2008 via Cebu Pacific Air. I spent almost Php 5,000 for a round trip ticket, which was already a promo price (regular ticket price I think is around Php 3k-4k for one-way fare). Too bad for me I wasn’t able to avail on their promo price of as low as Php 400 for a round trip on December 2009, booked on September 2008.
Anyway, I just received a text message from the ticketing office, where I bought my ticket during my last trip, that Cebu Pacific Air is currently running a low-fare promo. You can avail of the Php 500 promo for all domestic flights on January 9 – March 28, 2009 if you book your flights before October 27, 2008. And oh, they’re also running a Php 500 promo for all international flights with over 500,000 seats available. This promo runs from October 22-27, 2008. So book your 2009 flights today!
Hmm, should I go home again?

Type of Text Scams in the Philippines
Oct 22, 2008 Internet Safety, Mobile Leave a comment
ABS-CBNnews.com reports that text scam cases are rising in the Philippines that the National Bureau of Investigation Anti-Fraud and Computer Crime Division receives 10-20 complaints a day. The current economic crisis is considered on this increasing cases.
I myself has received a couple of text messages that intends to scam. Like, it says that my cellphone number has been chosen as a winner for a “raffle” draw with a tempting winning prize of a hundred thousand pesos, and that I should call them for the instructions on how to claim my prize. Having been exposed to e-mail scams with similar content, I just ignore these text messages. My father, nearly succumbed to one message he received. Good thing, I warned him beforehand.
Anyway, the bureau has classified the types of text scams in the Philippines which are:
The lottery/prize scam: The consumer will be contacted by SMS or e-mail with news that he/she has won a large sum of money, but in order to receive the winnings, he/she must first pay the taxes by depositing into a stranger’s account. The consumer sends the funds, but the winnings are never received. The charity donation scam: The victim will be told that the culprit is a representative of either a fake charity organization or a recognized government foundation tasked to secure donations for a worthy cause. The victim will be given contact details and information on how he/she can donate via the fraudster. The online auction purchase scam: The consumer with the winning bid in an online auction is instructed that the seller will only accept money transfer as a form of payment. The seller may also instruct the consumer to use a fictitious name for the transfer, to ‘protect themselves’ until the goods are received – but they never arrive. The dugu-dugo or budul-budol scam: The victim will receive a call from someone who claims to be a family member stating that a loved one has been kidnapped or hurt, and will need the victim to make a transfer of money to a stranger to avoid the kidnapped relative from being harmed or to pay for medical expenses. The recruitment scam: The victim will receive an offer to a job overseas from an individual who claims to represent an agency or the employer, and requests for a placement fee to be transferred to his/her account to facilitate the application process. The business investment scam: A business may receive a request from a stranger posing as a representative of a major corporation offering the opportunity to become involved in a large commercial operation. The offer will involve very large financial returns and will require the victim to finance portions of the business venture. All payments will be required to be forwarded in amounts between P10,000 and P50,000. Examples of the requests for money include:
- Payment of legal fees
- Payment for the suppliers or subcontractors
- Payment for the registration costs
- Payment of business taxes
The Nigerian inheritance/legacy scam: The consumer is contacted, usually by email, by an individual claiming to be either a representative of the Nigerian government, a wealthy business person or the widow of a deposed leader. The trickster may claim that they have discovered a bank account belonging to a deceased citizen or has come into possession of a large sum of money. The trickster offers to share the proceeds if the consumer allows him/her to deposit the money into their bank account. The consumer is asked to provide their account details and other sensitive information. However, before the transaction takes place, an “unforeseen difficulty” occurs and additional fees from the victim are “necessary to overcome the problem”.

A Gloves for iPhone Users?
Oct 16, 2008 Gadgets, Mobile, Technology News 1 Comment
The women users of iPhone have long been complaining about the difficulty of using the touchscreen feature of the iPhone and similar gadgets, especially if they have long nails. Well, worry no more as there is a special gloves especially designed to suit the needs of iPhone users with, well, long nails.
The Freehands gloves are actually pretty cool since the fabric covering the index fingers and thumbs can be folded back to expose your fingertips. This in turn will help interact with your gadgets better without having to take off your gloves to send texts, type on your keyboard, play video games, and even answer your iPhone. Best of all, small magnets in the fingertips hold the folded tips back so they’ll always stay out of your way. Yahoo Tech News
The Freehands gloves are available in 3 varieties: leather, stretch, and fleece available at $40, $30 and $20, respectively.

How to open an encrypted .rar and .zip file?
Oct 8, 2008 Internet, Software 3 Comments
Have you downloaded a file, a compressed file in particular like in zip and rar, that require you a password to extract the files in it? The folder is encrypted then, and you do not know the password to open it.
Good thing there are software that do the job of cracking the password for the file. Some of these software are available as shareware which means you can download the trial version but you have to purchase the full version to bring it to full functionality. These programs work by “bruteforce” method where the software searches all possible combination of characters or using passwords from lists called “wordlist” or “dictionary” method.
1. KRyLack Password Recovery. It is a program that recovers lost or forgotten passwords to files of the following types: ZIP, RAR (including v3.x, SFX, multi-volume and archives with encrypted filenames) and ACE archives.
2. Ultimate Zip Cracker. Also works similarly as KRyLack Password Cracker but it has its extended functionality to crack passwords of Microsoft Office documents such as MS Word (*.DOC) and MS Exel (*.XLS) files and ARJ archives.
3. Advanced ZIP Password Recovery. This program is designed for recovering lost or forgotten passwords for ZIP, PKZip, or WinZip archives.
4. RAR Password Cracker. This programs works limitedly only on WinRAR archives. You can try the trial version at an unlimited time, however the functions are limited so you have to purchase the full version to get all the functions you need. It also supports self-extracting archives and multivolume archives.
I’ve tried RAR Password Cracker for a rar archive of a medical e-book using a list of password I downloaded and it worked perfectly. I was able to open the archive and extract the files on my computer.
