The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is currently monitoring 2 low pressure areas (LPA), one in the west Philippine Sea and another in east of Mindanao. The LPA spotted east of Mindanao has a “high probability” of intensifying into a tropical cyclone, but the weather disturbance is still too far to affect any part of the country, according to PAGASA.

At 4:00 p.m. today, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 315 km West of Calapan Mindoro (13.5°N, 118.0°E). Another Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 850 km East of Surigao City (10.0°N, 134.0°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Once this LPA develops into a tropical depression, it will be named “Goring.”
Update 1:
At 2:00 p.m. today, July 4, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 790 km East of Samar (11.0°N, 133.8°E) embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
