The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) posted that as 4:00 p.m. today, Tropical Storm “Kabayan” has intensified into a typhoon. It is approximately located at 1,030 km East of Casiguran, Aurora based on satellite. It has a maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. PAGASA said that the typhoon is moving North at 11 kph, and still too far to directly affect any part of the country.
Moderate to heavy rains, will however, continue in Bataan, Zambales and Pangasinan and some parts of Visayas due to the southwest monsoon, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country would be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
