The state weather bureau, PAGASA, has raised flood alert level in NCR and Metro Manila to “RED” as Typhoon Gener continues to pound Luzon.
In a latest weather update from PAGASA, as of 12:30 AM, 30 July 2012 (Monday), an intense rain (15.5 mm) was observed La Mesa for the past hour and most likely to continue for the next 3 hours. Flooding over low-lying areas and those located near the river channels are very likely. Residents in these high risk areas are advised to take precautionary measures and MONITOR the weather condition and WATCH OUT for the next warning.
La Mesa Dam is already on critical and near its spilling level. The weather bureau also reports a shallow pressure area located in the vicinity of Quezon City. Moderate to heavy rains with strong winds in Metro Manila and adjacent areas are expected, and will bring more rains in the next couple of hours.
July 30 classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces are already suspended as Gener strengthens.
