The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced in a press release Wednesday the distribution of the Productivity Enhancement Incentive or PEI for National Government employees not earlier than December 14, just in time for the holidays.
The PEI is an across-the-board bonus that is distributed annually to qualified government employees, the amount of which will depend on savings generated by the National Government. This year, the PEI for each employee will amount to P5,000, regardless of rank or function.
According to Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad, the PEI is one component of the Aquino administration’s Performance-Based Incentive System (PBIS), which incentivizes better work performance in the bureaucracy to boost the delivery of public goods and services to all Filipinos.
The PEI is an additional incentive for government workers along with the second half of the 13th-month pay and cash gift. Recently, the administration has also announced the release of the Performance-Based Bonus for deserving agencies and employees.
Who will receive the PEI?
Employees eligible for the PEI are civilian personnel who occupy regular, contractual, or casual positions, whether appointive or elective, or those who render services on a full-time or part-time basis. Military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Department of National Defense, and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping Resource Information Authority are likewise eligible to receive PEI.
Local government employees and personnel in government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) that are under the DBM’s supervision can also receive the bonus.
