The City Government of Davao announced class suspension of primary to tertiary classes on January 21, 2013.

Due to the constant downpour since Saturday afternoon, the Davao River overflowed causing waist-deep flooding in several areas in the city on Sunday morning. More than 300 people or 90 families were evacuated from six barangays in Davao del Norte. The flash flood was brought by the tail-end of a cold front affecting some parts of Mindanao.

According to the PAGASA 24-hour forecast issued on Sunday at 5:00 AM, the weather condition will continue to affect Mindanao, including Davao City, and the areas affected will continue to experience cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.
