The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority or MMDA, the organizer of the annual film fest, has released the official box-office figures on Thursday via its official Twitter account.
The Star Cinema-Viva Films comedic entry Sisterakas, which starred Phenomenal Box-Office Star Vice Ganda, Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas and the Queen of All Media Kris Aquino, has earned a whopping P342 million. Sisterakas set the record of becoming the Philippines’ highest grossing local film of all time, breaking the record previously set by The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin. One More Try, another Star Cinema entry, has earned P170.5M, while the movie franchise Si Agimat, Si Enteng, at Si Ako grossed P133.5M. Regal Films’ Shake, Rattle, and Roll 14 landed in the top 4 with P45.3M gross income.
Some of these movies may earn more as cinemas opt to extend their showing.
The official figures, as well as the official Top 4 movies, reflect similarities with what have been released by the press, somehow, clearing up the allegations that the figures were padded.
The MMDA has not yet revealed the earnings of the four remaining movies as of this posting.
