Globe CEO Ernest Cu has currently become the subject of criticisms after throwing an inappropriate remark against subscribers of Smart, Globe’s rival network, during the CloudFone Thrill Launch at the Prive Luxury Club, The Fort Strip, Bonifacio Global City on February 12, 2013.

Globe Telecom CEO Ernest Cu.
Blogger Russel CP, who was at the event, relates how disappointing and distasteful it was to hear those comments, much so coming from a man leading one of the country’s biggest companies.
“Tonight, at an event, I heard the most distasteful comment I’ve heard from a CEO. ‘Kukunti lang ang kilala kong may itsura na Smart user.’ – Ernest Cu, CEO of Globe Telecoms. This explains a lot about why Globe is taking so much flak these days. Companies rise and fall on leadership,” he said in his blog.
Another blogger has also found the remark unbecoming of a company executive. In his blog, Arpee Lazaro, also describes the retort as the most unCEO-like that he has ever heard.
“Whether it was in jest or not, that was retort was the most unCEO-like that I have ever heard in my whole life. At the launch party of Cloudfone Thrill, Globe CEO Ernest Cu went on stage and uttered these words in the hopes of livening the party. Little did he realize that there were a number of Smart users in the group and such potshots are too low for a man of his position. This gives me the impression that the company is desperately struggling against their competitors. When I heard it, my jaw dropped. Obviously, there was very little laughter over this remark, with perhaps the few chuckles coming from his own people.
A lot more is expected from a CEO, not this. I realize that business is cutthroat but no potshots please. I don’t think any professional wants to be ridiculed for his appearance or judged because he is using the competitor’s product. These days, almost everybody has two phones. Cloudfone has dual sim capability. Does this mean that if a Cloudfone user buys a Smart sim, panget na sya? Then don’t sell dual SIM phones.”

Hasn’t smart been bad mouthing globe for the past year? At least Ernest does not shroud it in fake claims like smart and their bs live more campaign.
Just as Globe’s lousy service destroys their name, Ernest Cu’s unprofessional comment is another example of the company shooting itself in the foot.
Badmouthing with your competitor is a big No,No!
You have to make sure that your services are BEAUTIFUL!
Globe pangit ang customer service (with no resolution) in comparison with Smart and Pldt.
