The Department of Health (DOH) continues to recruit registered nurses and midwives to be assigned in rural areas under the second batch of Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement and Local Services (RNHEALS) and Rural Health Midwives (RHM) Placement programs.

According to the DOH, recruitment of 11,500 registered nurses for public hospitals and health facilities and 1,000 registered midwives for far-flung communities is still ongoing. Earlier this year, the DOH in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment, assigned 10,000 nurses to local health facilities to support the Pantawid sa Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) initiated by the Department of Social Welfare and Development or DSWD.
The second part of RNHEALS aims to augment the decreasing number of health workers, especially the nurses, in DOH and public hospitals and local health facilities. The RHM Placement Program on the other hand aims to answer the increasing number of maternal and infant deaths.
The nurses and midwives will be deployed at their assigned health facilities and communities with stipend of P8,000.00 and P6,000.00 per month, respectively. The hospitals where they will be assigned to will provide their food during their tour of duty. Moreover, they will be provided with PhilHealth Insurance and GSIS Group Accident Insurance.
