Revert back to the “old” Facebook layout by changing language settings to English (UK)

So Facebook surprises its users with the new layout. The new layout include the live news feed of your friends’ activity – commenting, liking, posting a new status, uploading new photos, as a hide-able right sidebar. You can also preview the activity when hovering over the activity. This replaces the recent activity tab previously seen in the “old” layout.

But not all improvements satisfy the users. Good thing, it can be reverted back to its old layout by changing some of the account settings.

1. Login to Facebook.
2. Click on the Account Settings.

3. Change the Language into English (UK).

4. Voila! You’re back to the old Facebook layout.

How to make a cheap mosquito trap using sugar and yeast to prevent dengue?

Dengue is at its peak during these months. Although health authorities say that cases continue to decline, dengue still pose threat especially to children. In some parts of the country like Nueva Ecija, which ranks second with the most cases of dengue in Central Luzon, fumigation is not sufficient to drive away these dengue-carrying mosquitoes. The local health officials have devised a simple method to help minimize the wrath of dengue – a mosquito trap they named “sweet potion.” In a local news program, the officials shared how they do the mosquito trap.

And here’s how to do the mosquito trap:

Materials needed:
- empty 1.5 bottle of soft drink painted with black.
- 4 tbsp of brown sugar
- 250 ml water
- 1 tbsp of yeast (pampaalsa)

Procedure:
1. Cut the upper portion of the empty 1.5 ml bottle, this will serve as a funnel and the lower part will serve as the mixing container.
2. Pour 250 ml of water in the mixing container.
3. Put 4 tbsp of brown sugar into it and thoroughly mix them.
4. Add a tbsp of yeast onto the mixture. The mixture will undergo oxidation which will emit aroma to attract the mosquitoes. The black color of the container will further attract them.

The Department of Health (DOH) recommends at least 4-set mosquito traps, ideally put up inside and outside the house. According to the news, the cost will only be P5.00.

Friendster Exporter: How to backup/export your Friendster photos, comments, blogs and groups?

Friendster which used to be world’s largest social networking site recently announced a major revamp on May 31 suggested its users to back up their photos, comments, blogs and groups as the content would be deleted. Friendster announced that a “new & improved” site will be welcoming its users after the massive overhaul. Only users’ accounts will be retained but messages, blogs and photos would be deleted.

Friendster offered an exporter app for its users to easily back up these data. Friendster Exporter offers three options:

1. You can download your profiles. This tool lets you download a copy of your Friendster Profile to your computer, as a zip file. You can view your profile data by opening ‘index.html’ once the file is downloaded.

This includes the following: basic info (name, date of birth, gender, and ‘About Me’ info), photos, list of your friends or fans (for Fan Profiles), list of pages that you are ‘a fan of’, comments and testimonials, messages in your Inbox, shoutout history and comments to your shoutouts, virtual gifts, treasure chest and list of groups you are a member of. You can either choose the faster download or the slower download, the latter will include your photos. If you opt to use the former, you can separately export your photos.

2. You can separately export your photos. A tool is available that will let you export all your photos directly to other online photo hosting/sharing sites (Flickr, Photobucket and Multiply). Then once the new Friendster become online, you can reupload your photos.

3. You can download your blogs. There is an option to generate a zipped .xml copy of your blog in Friendster which you can export directly to other popular blog sites such as WordPress.com or self-hosted WordPress blogs and Blogger/Blogspot.

Apart from the tools officially created by the Friendster, you can also easily download your Friendster photos and transfer them to Facebook.

How to apply for an S2 License Number?

Acquiring an S2 License Number enables a physician to prescribe regulated drugs such as anti psychotics and antidepressants. Applying for an S2 license number is easy if you have already prepared your requirements which include the following:

1. PRC ID
2. Latest PTR
3. TIN Card or ITR
4. Latest Drug Test Result, which should be negative and computerized
5. Two (2) pcs 1″ x 1″ ID picture with name tag, no eyeglasses and taken not later than a month from application of any background color.
6. PhP1500 fee, valid for 3 years.

For renewal, the requirements are basically the same except that you must present your S2 ID card. For lost S2 ID card, submit Proof of Publication of Loss.

Oh, no! My Twitter Account was Hacked!

I rarely post my personal tweets. Most of the updates for my Twitter account are automatic feeds from this blog that’s why it looked active. So I was surprised when Twitter sent an e-mail to me stating that I recently changed the email address associated with my Twitter account. I did not alter the e-mail address lately so I believe my account has been compromised or hacked.

I immediately referred to their Support page and looked for possible reasons how my account got hacked.

The primary reasons how accounts may become compromised are:
1. Entrusting your username and password to a malicious third-party. In my case, I recently signed up for a third party, a make-money-from-Twitter page, which I granted for an access to my Twitter account.
2. Due to a weak password. Usually, I am using combination of letters and numbers so I think this couldn’t be the reason.
3. Due to viruses or malware that are collecting passwords. I am currently using an ESET Smart Security as my anti-virus, which was named as one of the best antivirus software.
4. Due to a compromised network.

The most possible reason I could think of is signing up at that malicious third-party. When I tried to request for a reset of the password using the e-mail add associated with my Twitter, it said that the e-mail account was not existent. But when I tried to request using my username, it was successful, however, since the e-mail address has been changed, I did not receive the password reset. This confirmed that my account has been hacked.

I immediately sent a support ticket to Twitter, to which their autoresponder promptly replied to. But until now I could not login to my account. What to do?

Blogging For Traffic Tip #1 – Create Original Content Of Significant Value

Content is king. If you have been in the Internet marketing scene for any period of time you would have heard this saying day in and day out. Every Internet marketing manual has this as it’s mantra and rightly so.

One of the biggest problems people have when blogging has nothing to do with the lack of traffic coming to their site. It’s a symptom of something more sinister. Bad content. Even worse then poorly written original content is content that is not original at all. This is the death bell for all blogs that want to be taken seriously.

You HAVE to have unique content. It is the lifeblood of blogging. Every other blog is lacking in original content, you have to be different.

Pay someone to write it if you have to.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #2 – Create Content That Gives People A Plan Of Action

Want to get people to not only read your blog but follow your word blindly and do your bidding for you? I kid you not, people will fall over themselves to do what you say if you do this. You just have to tell them what to do.

This is the greatest idea, especially if you are preselling an affiliate program via your blog.

Every one of your posts you write should give people an action that could be taken by the reader.

IE, every idea you give the reader, they should be able to go and implement in their business right away.

I’m not sure who I read this from but I remember reading that the best way to sell a product or an affiliate product, especially in the Internet marketing arena is to give them a plan that they can follow and implement straight away and then give them the resources to do that with.

A lot of people write ebooks or articles or blogs that are very informative but don’t really presell what they are trying to promote.

Giving people a plan they can follow straight away after reading what you wrote will give them that incentive to buy that recommended product from you instead of another affiliate.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #3 – Create Content That Is Timeless

If you want your blog to be around for a while and you want readers to come in 5 years time and still find your content relevant to them, you need to make sure the content is timeless, whether they read it in 3 months, 3 years or 30 years.

This not only means you don’t have to keep updating your content every 6 months which will save you time, it also helps with other people who you may allow to use your content on their websites. They are sure not going to update your content for you.

Some topics however, will always be timeless. Find those, write on them.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #4 – Write For Your Visitors As Your #1 Priority Not Search Engines

While you should be optimizing your posts and your blog for search engines, and I talk about this later, your main focus should be on writing for humans, not bots.

Keep this in mind always. Don’t try and repeat your keywords all over your blog posts to the point where it does not make sense.

This might work sometimes for search engine ranking and you may get some extra traffic, but they won’t stay long if the content is obviously geared for search engine ranking. People have a short attention span and won’t waste it on junk.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #5 – Write Like You Are Talking To A Friend

There is nothing worse then reading a blog with no personality. People think that they have to take on this serious, boring persona when writing a blog, but you should be having fun with it instead.

People like to read blogs that are conversationalist in nature. People like to read writing that is written at the 7th grade level. People don’t want to read large words and hard to read sentences.

People also like it when you talk to them one on one like an old friend. Talk to the reader as if only one person were reading your blog.

Having a unique personality will get you more traffic from people telling people about your site then any “traffic building” technique.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #6 – Be True To Yourself And You Will Never Worry About Money Or People Again

A lot of people just starting out, especially in the affiliate marketing game write blogs to earn affiliate commission, and there is nothing wrong with that.

What you want to avoid is promoting affiliate programs just because they pay out larger commissions even though the products might not be of the highest quality. Never promote a product you have never bought or tried yourself. You have to like and really want to tell other people about it.

Blogging For Traffic Tip #7 – Make Sure You Post Regularly But Not Overly So

You have to blog regularly to keep search engines interested, ping sites interested and even more importantly, people interested. If you don’t post regularly, all of the above will still coming back as frequently and will lose interest in your site.

You should post at least once a week, at the very least. Two to three times would be better. But make sure you don’t post every day all day. This makes your site to search engines look like a spam blog.

Also make sure you split your post times up. Some weeks post on mondays, thursdays and sundays, other weeks post on the other days.

One of the best ways to get a sudden burst of traffic is to write about something that is hot right now or in the news. This is a great way to get a sudden burst of really interested traffic.

You can find out whats hot now by watching the news or use online services like Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz or Ebay Pulse.

These sites give you lists of searches that are very popular online right now.
