HP TouchSmart tx2: The first multi-touch laptop

Another great innovative laptop is the new HP TouchSmart tx2 Laptop, which is said to be the first multi-touch laptop released by Hewlett Packard company.

HP TouchSmart tx2 adds a multi-touch screen function to the traditional convertible tablet computer. This means you can use a finger or two to draw on the screen, browse the web, click icons, and control media through HP’s homegrown MediaSmart application.

The TouchSmart tx2 is still a Vista laptop, similar to previous releases from HP. It is of AMD-based CPUs with 12.1-inch screen is powered by an ATI Radeon HD 3200 CPU, and hard drives which range from 160 to 500GB. Wi-Fi is integrated, but there’s no integrated WWAN feature available. With these great features, indeed HP TouchSmart tx2 is a smart laptop. And with great features, comes a huge but reasonable price of $1,150 but it is said to be on sale tomorrow, maybe at the HP shopping website.

*Sigh* With the minimal amount of earnings I get from my websites, I could only dream of these great laptops from HP such as this TouchSmart tx2 and the previously released Compaq CQ-50 139WM Laptop.

Windows 7 vs Windows Vista

Microsoft will soon release Windows 7, its new OS, and said to be a successor of Windows Vista. Users are starting to question how does it differ from its predecessor? Will it have numerous bugs on its first release similar to what happened to Windows Vista? Or will it really be better than Vista as Microsoft itself claimed?

Those who had a first glimpse of the Windows 7 said that there are only subtle difference between the two. However, it is said that the new task bar looks more of a Mac OS X’s dock than Windows Vista’s.

Further Window 7’s desktop has large icons that live at the bottom of the screen. The icons represent applications chosen by the user and live there whether an application is running or not.

Cnet.com provided a video of how the Windows 7 desktop looks like.

A Gloves for iPhone Users?

The women users of iPhone have long been complaining about the difficulty of using the touchscreen feature of the iPhone and similar gadgets, especially if they have long nails. Well, worry no more as there is a special gloves especially designed to suit the needs of iPhone users with, well, long nails.

The Freehands gloves are actually pretty cool since the fabric covering the index fingers and thumbs can be folded back to expose your fingertips. This in turn will help interact with your gadgets better without having to take off your gloves to send texts, type on your keyboard, play video games, and even answer your iPhone. Best of all, small magnets in the fingertips hold the folded tips back so they’ll always stay out of your way. Yahoo Tech News

The Freehands gloves are available in 3 varieties: leather, stretch, and fleece available at $40, $30 and $20, respectively.

Do I need a Laser Vision Correction (LASIK)?

I remember during one of the meme tags I have received about the 8 random things about me, I said my left eye is not functioning anymore. And it was sad but true. It’s called “lazy eye” or in medical term amblyopia. It is a childhood disease. I have actually detected this problem since I was about 7 years old during our yearly eye exam in elementary grade. I told my mom about it but she did not want to entertain it because she was saying I couldn’t have a “blind eye” at a young age. Well, it’s one of the misconceptions moms have sometimes. The case has gotten worse over years and now, I only see blurry images with my left eye. Good thing I have my right eye, but I have to wear eyeglasses and contact lenses.

During our clerkship rotation in the EENT department, I was examined by our consultant and officially said I have amblyopi. He has saying that I can have a laser vision correction (LASIK).

The procedure is costly and there are complications I should consider. One scary complication is irreversible blindness.

Well, to answer my own question. I badly need my vision and LASIK may help me to gain it back.
