Rolling Stone reports that American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert will be the new frontman for British rock band and music legendary act, Queen.

Adam Lambert confirmed this report, saying that the intention (of him joining the band) is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band and to keep their music alive for the fans. ”The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some f*****g great songs,” he said. “It’s to keep the music alive for the fans and give it an energy that Freddie would’ve been proud of.”  The singer added that he has no intention to replace Freddie Mercury who died in 1991.

“That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honor and one I’m in no way going to shirk,” said the singer.

However, Hollywood Records, Queen’s record label, did not confirmed. A contract has not been signed yet to seal the deal.   It is said however that Lambert will be the frontman for Queen for their concert tour slated this year.
