The phone features a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED screen, which is about a half-inch larger than Samsung’s Galaxy S II, and significantly bigger than the 3.5-inch high-resolution display on the Apple iPhone 4S. The Galaxy S III, is however, a bit thinner than the iPhone 4S (8.6mm vs. 9.33mm) and is slightly lighter as well (133 grams vs. 140 grams).  It seems that large-screen phones is the new bandwagon as most phone manufacturers “up-sized” their flagship phones.

The Galaxy S III will run on Ice Cream Sandwich version of Google’s Android OS (version 4.0).   It has 8-megapixel camera, enhanced with burst mode that can capture 3.3 photos per second and the ability to capture still photos while recording HD video.

No advisory yet from Samsung Mobile PH regarding its release and suggested retail price in the Philippines but Sir Abe of Yugatech.com predicted it to be around Php29,990 for the 16GB, while the 64GB could go for Php35,990.

Philippine mobile giant Smart Communications, Inc. inked a deal with Nokia for the exclusive distribution of the Nokia Lumia 900. It will be available for their postpaid subscribers.

Smart also distributes another Nokia smartphone, the Lumia 701, which will be made available for postpaid plans starting April 16. Officially, it will be launched on April 19, 2012.

It has an 8 megapixel camera with auto focus, 8x digital zoom and a LED flash.  It has a 1 GHz U8500 Dual Core processor and runs on Google Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)  but similar with Xperia S, it will receive an upgrade to Android 4 during the second quarter.  Talk time is is up to 6 hours (GSM), standby time up to 475 hours (UMTS), music listening time is up to 80 hours and video playback time is up to 4 hours.

The Xperia P will sell at a SRP of Php 22,990 and will be made available mid May.  The kit will come with two (2) NFC Smart Tags,  HDMI cable, screen protector and a fast charger (80% faster than regular charger).

The Sony Xperia U (previously known as Sony Ericsson ST25i Kumquat) will be available in Xperia Concept Stores by mid-May at a SRP of P13,990.  It is a “smaller version of Xperia P.  It comes with a 5MP camera with auto focus and LED flash.   It has a smaller 3.5 inch scratch-resistant TFT touchscreen with 16 million colours, and resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
