The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Wednesday warns nurses to be wary of supposed vacancies advertised through social media. The agency said through its administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac that they received information from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in London that there is no active hiring of nurses in the United Kingdom at present although there were a few NHS Trusts and carehomes that were able to hire nurses and senior carers these past months.
The POEA alerted jobseekers about a Facebook account named Drake Personnel Philippines which is used to recruit Filipino nurses and other medical professionals. Cacdac said that Drake Personnel Philippines has no valid license from the POEA and is not allowed to recruit or deploy Filipino workers overseas. Check here to see list of recruitment agencies with expired, cancelled, delisted and valid POEA license.
Cacdac said that to avoid being duped by illegal recruiters, Filipino applicants desiring to work in the UK may visit http://ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/working/ for useful information about working in the UK and how to get visas for various work categories. To check whether a UK employer is allowed to sponsor migrant workers, applicants may browse this site.
