2013 POEA Overseas Jobs: More than 200,000 jobs await Pinoys abroad
The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) announced that there are more than 200,000 jobs that await Filipinos who want to work abroad. In a report by ABS-CBN, most of the skilled workers are needed in the Middle East, especially Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
According to POEA, these countries will concentrate on construction of establishments for their resident’s welfare such as building hospitals and transportation facilities. Subsequently, the demand for construction and medical workers will be expected to be high this year.
Salary for skilled workers in the Middle East range from USD 700-1,000 + or more than Php 40,000 per month. Other countries in South East Asia such as Singapore and Taiwan are also in need of employees. Nurses and construction workers are of high demand in Singapore, while Taiwan is in need of factory workers. Click here for more list of available job orders overseas.
Due to this surge of demand for skilled workers, a consequent increase in illegal recruiters might also ensue. The POEA, thus, advise aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) to check if their job recruiters and recruitment agencies are accredited by the POEA. See list here.
